Copper Nickel accepts submissions Aug 15–Dec 15, Jan 15–Mar 1.
The Jake Adam York Book Prize accepts submissions Jul 1–Oct 15.
We charge a $3 submission fee for submitting to Copper Nickel. Submittable has raised their rates and we can no longer entirely absorb the cost of receiving submissions online. Please note that we pay the writers we publish.
We DO accept simultaneous submissions. If you need to withdraw part of a submission (a poem, a flash piece) but not the entire submission, please send a message through submittable indicating which particular pieces need to be withdrawn.
We do not accept work produced via generative AI. At Copper Nickel, we believe that creative writing is vitally rooted in the unique, creative expression of the individual mind—the self—and generative AI is the opposite of that. What’s more, AI models have been trained using the overt, unabashed theft of the labor of individuals—including many, many creative writers—without consent or appropriate compensation. We are fundamentally opposed to that.
